At JRD Voice Studio, I have designed a comprehensive curriculum so I can provide optimal singing lessons and group classes for all levels of students, from beginner to pro - and my bag of tricks and resources is BOTTOMLESS! My unique life and professional experience - including ongoing professional development and certification in popular/microphone styles - mean you get access to the best, most current voice instruction, all personalized FOR YOU, to find YOUR unique voice!
You will have access to the studio microphone to practice those sweet popular styles (if you’re in-person), any and all musical resources, including the Full Voice workbooks, RCM exams, festivals, competitions, studio concerts, and masterclasses with industry professionals in opera and musical theatre, as well as extensive prep for college entry and professional auditions.

What I Bring To The Table (aka The Secret Sauce!)

My life experiences as a student at the Curtis Institute of Music and a young artist at the Metropolitan Opera, as well as my over 15 years of teaching experience have helped me to develop a compassionate, empathetic, and emotionally available approach that enables all students to find their authentic, unique voice.
Straight up? I believe in positive reinforcement and student led, play based learning. I am not interested in negative or unkind teaching methods. As a wise voice teacher of mine said to me once, “You can’t sing if you’re trying not to cry.” #truth
I provide a safe space for experimentation, and a judgment-free zone to work at YOUR pace. Here at JRD Voice Studio, you are free (and encouraged!) to #makeallthesounds - and we have a TON of fun while we’re at it!

My #musicalmavericks range from 6 to 76, and all lessons are tailored to fit YOUR specific needs. I do this through:
- Assessment and evaluation of current skills.
- Regular verbal check in’s with you during the lesson.
- Including you in the process (AKA Student Led Learning!): what the focus of the lesson will be, what kind of songs you want to sing, what overall goals we set, as well as how things are feeling, and where we’re going/what we’re doing, because YOU are an integral part of this process. My job is to teach you to drive your own car, not be your chauffeur!
